ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Lisa Marie
WHERE I COME FROM
I am a proud, patriotic child of a Vietnam Veteran who had a contracting business and a career businesswoman, selling textiles and design elements to the hospitality industry-still at the age of 70+. My parents have always done something entrepreneurial. They taught us well about great customer service, creativity and hard work.
I have one sister and she shares her love of business. Former owner of a dance studio. She is now managing a small automotive business herself. She is a mom of 3, a wife of overn30 years, and businesswoman. I am very proud of her.
My grandparents were 1st generation Irish American Immigrants. Talk about hard workers-They were both also lifelong self employed. My grandfather could grow anything! He started an egg farm sales business via the old fruit market in S. Boston and my grandma was an amazing tailor of everything from dresses to slipcovers. My grandparents had an even bigger effect on my life. They lived through the Great Depression and they taught me to be industrious, hard working and they always instilled my conservative and patriotic values. Foremost my grandmother was a great proponent for women's right to vote back in the day. I envision her movement with the Suffragettes, but unfortunately she passed before I could hear the important stories of her generation.

My sister and I grew up with appreciation for hard work but we also learned to enjoy and appreciate life and the world we live in. As children my sister and I would go hunting, fishing and hiking with our father. We learned how to build tree stands, identify vegetation, appreciate and observe wildlife, and take care of our environment. My father taught us survival skills as we walked the wilderness nearly every weekend. We learned target practice, of course all about firearm safety and how to fish-even how to clean and cook a fish. (At the time, my least favorite lesson but proved more important with time). My dad made learning and living in nature one of the strongest interests and practices of mine still today. We are the stuarts of our environment.

I have passed this love of nature on to both of my children. My daughter, (homeschooled), now 24 years old, loves to track and observe wildlife and she loves caring for animals at our miniature farm. Just a few years ago we actually created hundreds of terrariums together for a homeschool project and even taught a class. All of the plants, moss and mushrooms we used were sourced from a local wooded area and returned following the lesson. We studied these and learned about how they live, how to fortify them and which are poisonous and how to designate what is edible.
A THRIVING CAREER
My career was a happy accident. Despite working in the interior design and construction industry for years my interest wained upon the birth of my children. I know first hand how difficult it is to balance work and life as a mother. When my children were born, and while juggling my husband's business I decided to transition a hobby into a career. The hours were much more amicable and I realized that working from home provided a better balance. My children truly taught me that I can do anything, and I believe that is the same for every woman.

A friend invited me to help with her catering business. She had issues with her aesthetic; her marketing and her event decor. My specialties aligned so I took the leap. I have been in it ever since and very successful ever since. I love what I do and I try and exhibit leadership every day to our college interns in that you can do both and all are rewarding. Mother, wife and businessperson. I liken my actions in my events business to that of my ambitions as a state representative. I like to take something that is raw and has issues (such as our state) and turn it into something beautiful that someone will enjoy and appreciate.
We are working with some great talent in this state and some beautiful spaces. We just need to clean things up a bit so our state can reach it's potentail for all Rhode Islanders. Let's get rid of the minutia, and help Ri'ers to understand and follow what is happening to their state. There is no reason for the smallest state in the union to have the largest budget per capita.
MISSION STATEMENT
Let's make the most of this opportunity!
We have all awakened recently to the shortcomings of our state government. We found thru video conferencing what they were teaching our kids, we have seen the government overreach (both local and national), and we know our rights are being chipped our way via small silent acts in the dead of night by our so called REPRESENTATIVES and legislators. A large variety do not try to represent us. Heck, most of us do not even know who our district representatives are. They have never asked us our opinions. I intend to be YOUR voice. Please feel free to communicate with me and my team here in the office. We would be happy to chat with you at a local meet and greet or fundraiser and you can contact us via email or social media. I invite you to get to know me. I know that you will find that I am just like you. I love my family, my town and my state. I want peace and unity and most of all I want to understand what you feel is important and get to work for it!
